I use a sliding scale to help determine what a project will cost. Use the scale below to assess what rate is appropriate for you or your organization.

SOLIDARITY $75-$150/hr

This is the right rate for you if:

  • you’re looking for support for a grassroots group with an annual operating budget that is less than $1 million

  • you’re a poor or working class person looking for individual support

SUSTAIN $150-$300/hr

This is the right rate for you if:

  • you’re looking for support for an organization with an annual operating budget that is between $1 million and $3 million

  • you’re a person with some class privilege or access to resources looking for individual support

SECURE $300-$450/hr

This is the right rate for you if:

  • you’re looking for support for an organization with an annual operating budget that is more than $3 million

  • you’re looking for support for a funding organization

  • you’re a middle, managerial, or owning class person looking for individual support
